Focus and Scope

The focus and Scope of this Journal related to the following topics. Those area English as a Lingua Franca (ELF), assessment and testing in ELT, Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL), and Teacher Professional Development (TPD). This journal is of interest to a wide-ranging international audience of English teachers, researchers, teacher educators, and scholars who are professionally involved in English teaching and research on ELT.

Peer Review Process

ELTAR-J is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal. Submissions which meet the requirements of the journal are reviewed by two experienced reviewers in the field of ELTAR and are rated using the following criteria.

  1. The title is appropriate, concise, and clear.
  2. Abstract well represents the article.
  3. The writer's aims are clear and well justified.
  4. The writer uses appropriate references.
  5. The references are adequate.
  6. All parts are complete and relevant.
  7. The article is of appropriate length.
  8. All the statements are clear.
  9. Diagrams, figures, illustrations are clear and functional.
  10. The article contributes to the advancement of theories and/ or practices in the field.
  11. For research report article:
  • The problem/issue/purpose of the study is clear and well justified with contextualization within the wider web of relevant studies.
  • Research methodology and design suit the purpose(s).
  • Research procedures are clearly described.
  • Research findings are well presented.
  • Discussion well explains the findings and logically links the findings to theories and/ or practices; alternative perspectives are sought for (where applicable).
  • Conclusions are well drawn.

Publication Frequency

ELTAR-J publishes articles twice a year in the months of February and August.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

EalatR-J uses blind peer-reviewed dedicated to enhancing and disseminating scholarly work in the field of English Language Teaching and Research. The journal publishes both conceptual and research-based articles within the fields of teaching English as a second or foreign language, English language teaching and learning, and English language teachers' training and education.

This statement clarifies ethical behaviour of all parties involved in the act of publishing an article in this journal, including the author, the chief editor, the Editorial Board, the peer reviewers­ and the publisher (Graduate Program in Unisma). This statement is based on COPE's Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

Ethical Guideline for Journal Publication

The publication of an article in a peer-reviewed Eltar-J is an essential building block in the development of a coherent and respected network of knowledge. It is a direct reflection of the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles support and embody the scientific method. It is therefore important to agree upon standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: the author, the journal editors, the peer reviewers, the publisher and the society.
